Liberty Trillion are set to launch tomorrow at the London Bike Show, offering a range of bikes that are manufactured here in the UK.
The Trillion range includes a single speed urban bike, a Reynolds 853 mountain bike, a titanium Road bike, as well as two Reynolds 631 frames made for road and gravel riding. Carbon has also been cited as a material that the brand could potentially move into as early as next year, but it is steel where its original expertise lies.
Owned by Liberty House, an international steel trader and manufacturer, Trillion is based in Leamington Spa and manufactures its bikes in the UK under company founder Lawrence Bryan.
'Liberty Trillion prides itself on the fact that all our frames are hand-built in the UK and our bikes use only high-grade named components,' Bryan says. 'We offer our customers a wide choice so they can create a bike as individual as themselves. Our products are of the highest quality and we are aiming to establish our reputation alongside respected brands such as Pinarello, Colnago or De Rosa.'
For Liberty House founder Sanjeev Gupta, the launch of Trillion after acquiring the company is something of a return to his roots. After beginning working life trading bicycles in Turkey, Gupta went on to study at Cambridge University before settling up Liberty House in 1992.
'The work Lawrence and his team are doing is a great example of what we aim to do across the different spheres of engineering and manufacturing in Britain,' he says. 'We want to bring back great industries that have migrated overseas. We are establishing a competitive sustainable metals industry based on low-carbon production which is feeding our growing engineering businesses and ultimately that will help revive our downstream manufacturing enterprises. Bicycle manufacture once employed 50,000 people here and we aim to restore some of that great heritage.'
